We’re Dealer Tire, a family-owned, international distributor of tires and parts established in 1918 in Cleveland, OH. We’re laser focused on helping the world’s largest and most trusted auto manufacturers grow their tire business—in fact, we’ve sold more than 60 million tires to date. We’re a thriving company, and we’re looking for driven individuals to join our team. That’s where you come in!

As a Data Engineering Team Lead at Dealer Tire, you will lead a highly skilled team of innovative data professionals who are responsible for designing and implementing our company and enterprise data lakes in Snowflake, datasets/data models in Power BI, and the ETL/ELT pipelines that feed our business and analytical systems. You and your team will collaborate with internal and external customers and our affiliate companies, empowering them to solve business problems and gain powerful insights using high-performance datasets, enterprise analytics systems, and self-service tools such as Snowflake, Alteryx, R, Python, and Power BI.

As a Data Engineering Team Lead, your essential job functions will include the following:

  • Lead the effort to design, build, and enhance Snowflake data lakes, Power BI objects such as datasets, dashboards, and reports, and the database and ETL/ELT architectures needed to support them.
  • Collaborate with business and IT teams to implement comprehensive and easily expandable company and enterprise-level data models/datasets based on business needs.
  • Be a thought leader on future data usage (Data Futurist) and a catalyst for converting data into a knowledge base that can drive growth and power decision making.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers, our affiliates, and other IT teams to define and implement a roadmap for the company and enterprise data models and the systems that support them, including the maintenance of consistent data entity and element definitions across multiple environments.
  • Participate in design reviews and lead reviews focused on data architecture and system performance.
  • Evangelize our data assets and empower users with self-service tools and training to enable them to leverage those assets effectively.
  • Establish the definition and management of standards, guidelines, processes, and best practices for technology and software development, data governance, and reporting and analytics.
  • Engage with multiple concurrent projects both within your team and with other teams, providing architectural/design oversight and guidance when needed.
  • Articulate ideas and architectural concepts clearly and concisely through verbal and written communication.
  • Measure the performance of the team and the datasets and systems they support as part of a focus on continual improvement.
  • Work closely with the Business Intelligence Analyst to manage your team’s resource capacity and multiple concurrent work streams.
  • Ensure the adherence to established IT Security and Data Governance policies and assist in the creation and maintenance of those policies.

Leadership and Coaching

  • Provide inspirational leadership through collaboration, communication, and consensus building.
  • Provide vision, leadership, coaching, training, development, and support to the Data Engineering team.
  • Communicate operational priorities, objectives, and goals.
  • Facilitate problem solving and collaboration.
  • Complete a performance evaluation of each team member and recommend appropriate action such as promotions, counseling, and termination.
  • In collaboration with the Senior Manager, Enterprise Data Solutions, determine staffing needs, interview potential candidates, and hire associates.
