As Senior Tax Manager, your essential job functions will include the following:

  • Manage U.S. tax compliance function to ensure returns are accurately, timely & efficiently prepared & substantial authority exists for positions taken.
  • Lead the development and implementation of U.S. federal and state income tax compliance processes to meet compliance requirements most efficiently.
  • Provide direction and leadership to the Tax Operations team members and assist with their development and training.
  • Manage U.S. Federal & State tax K-1 reporting and Member tax distributions and communications.
  • Maintain tax compliance calendar and audit timelines, updating as needed.
  • Manage sales/use tax compliance analyst and function with a focus on developing process efficiencies and leveraging technologies.
  • Collaborate with the Tax Director to assure accurate tax accounting is reflected in the Company’s financial statements in accordance with ASC 740.
    • Preparation of the tax provision, including the deferred tax asset/liability and valuation allowances, if any.
    • Preparation of tax-related footnote disclosures for the annual external financial statements.
  • Manage tax compliance deliverables of 3rd party service providers with an emphasis on timeliness and quality of services.
  • Process owner of tax accounts including review all tax account reconciliations and related journal entries.
  • Research, analyze and advise management of new or revised tax laws and regulations
  • Support and help coordinate audits of federal, state and sales/use tax filings. 
  • Own tax notice process including correspondences and/or communications with tax authorities and providers.
  • Collaborate with the Tax Director and third-party consultants to evaluate and execute tax strategies associated with corporate transactions and analyze complex transactions & issues.

Leadership, Mentoring and Coaching

  • Experienced in leading and developing talent for the organization as evidenced by advancement and success of team members.
  • Communicate operational priorities, objectives, and goals.
  • Facilitate problem solving and collaboration.
  • Complete a performance evaluation of each team member and recommend appropriate action such as promotions, counseling, and termination.
  • Evaluate staffing needs, interview potential candidates, and hire associates.

Professional Experience & Competencies:

  • 10+ years of progressively more responsible Tax assignments, with at least 5 years in a managing role in US Federal Tax compliance.
  • Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Highly developed verbal & written communication skills.  Ability to lead and manage people, processes & projects.
  • Intimate working knowledge of U.S tax law.
  • Track record of achieving measurable tax objectives, and ability to produce thorough, transparent, and accurate workpapers to support tax returns.
  • Excellent analytical & research skills.
  • A visible and passionate leader internally.  Has the personal courage to recommend/make difficult decisions.
  • Able to analyze and grasp a situation quickly from different perspectives and create well-reasoned solutions.

Other Duties as Assigned

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; Master of Tax and/or CPA preferred.
  • Knowledge of Partnership Taxation preferred
  • Experience using JDE (JD Edwards), or other major ERP systems required.
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word.
