As a Director, Tax, your essential job functions will include the following:

  • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax position while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and international tax laws. 
  • Oversee preparation and review of all tax filings, including income, sales/use, property, and other applicable taxes.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and government agencies.
  • Lead the annual and quarterly global income tax provision process to ensure accurate and timely reporting in financial statements (ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes) with a focus on partnership-related items.
  • Oversee the coordination/preparation of all international income tax returns and estimated tax payments and review the return to provision calculations to identify the tax impact to the financial statements.
  • Oversee all aspects of the indirect tax function, including sales and use taxes, property taxes, franchise taxes and other business taxes.
  • Identify and implement domestic and foreign tax planning opportunities to minimize both US GAAP and cash taxes.
  • Collaborate with legal, finance, and business development teams to support strategic initiatives and transactions including mergers, acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Provide guidance and training to internal teams on tax-related matters.
  • Actively monitor changes to US and foreign tax laws and regulations to determine the tax reporting and financial statement impacts.
  • Manage the coordination of SOX reporting and controls for all income tax processes.  Establish and maintain the tax department policies and procedures.

Leadership, Mentoring and Coaching

  • Lead and mentor the tax team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
  • Provide leadership, coaching and development opportunities for all team members.  Communicate operational priorities, objectives, and goals.
  • Facilitate problem solving and collaboration.
  • Complete performance evaluations of  team members and recommend appropriate action such as promotions, counseling and termination.
  • Determine staffing needs, interview potential candidates, and hire associates.

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting/Finance required. 
  • CPA and/or Master’s in Taxation preferred.
  • 10+ years of corporate tax experience or equivalent public accounting experience required.  Experience with partnership taxation preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in tax accounting and related financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of international, federal, international, state and local income tax compliance and experience in preparing tax returns required.
  • Ability to research tax issues and implement changes needed to comply with existing tax laws or new tax legislation.
  • Experience with a major ERP system preferred, i.e., Oracle, JDE, SAP.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.   
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with individuals at all organizational levels, as well as the ability to interact effectively with federal, state and local tax authorities.

Physical Job Requirements

  • Sitting for long periods of time.
  • Continuous viewing from and inputting data to a computer screen.
  • Travel as required, up to 10%.

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The total compensation package may also include commission, bonus or profit sharing.
