Dealer Tire Breaks Ground at New Headquarters Pending Move Will Create More than 100 JobsCLEVELAND, OH—June 30, 2016—Representatives from the City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Dealer Tire and other local business leaders broke ground yesterday on a new, 650-car parking garage at Victory Center, located at 7012 Euclid Avenue. The garage is being constructed so that Dealer Tire, currently located at 3711 Chester Avenue in Cleveland, can move its world headquarters to Victory Center in the first half of 2017
Dealer Tire supplies tires and other supplies to auto dealerships nationwide. The company employs more than 400 employees in the Cleveland area and approximately 1100 total employees. The company has been operating at the Chester Avenue location—formerly a tire warehouse—since its founding in 1999 by Scott and Dean Mueller and their father, Walter D. Mueller, who is still part of the business. The Mueller family formerly owned the longtime Cleveland-based Mueller Tire & Brake retail chain.
“Moving to Victory Center keeps us firmly anchored in Cleveland’s MidTown area, where my grandfather started his tire business in 1918,” noted Scott Mueller, partner and CEO of Dealer Tire. “Our space on Chester Avenue has served us well, but we plan to add more than 100 jobs in the next three years, and the building can’t accommodate that growth. Victory Center offers the space and amenities we need with room for growth, while the new parking garage addresses one of the many challenges we face at our current building.”
Victory Center is a LEED-certified, 166,000 square foot historic building that was built in 1917. In addition to the new parking garage, the building is being renovated to accommodate Dealer Tire’s needs. To help renovate the building and construct the garage, Victory Center’s management and attorneys secured public financing from the city, county and state, as well as private refinancing and state and federal historic tax credits.
“The construction of this garage is a great of example of how government and the private sector can work together to maintain and create new jobs in our city,” said Mayor Frank G. Jackson. “I want to thank Dealer Tire for their commitment to the City of Cleveland and the Midtown Corridor.”
“We are pleased to provide $3M in an economic development loan for this project. The County is committed to retaining valued, long-time companies like Dealer Tire, which has nearly 100 years of history in Cleveland and Cuyahoga County,” said Armond Budish, Cuyahoga County Executive. “Not only does this project keep more than 400 jobs in the heart of Midtown, but it also will help create new jobs to attract talented workers to our county.”
“We are extremely grateful to the City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County and the State of Ohio for their support of this project,” added Mueller. “The Victory Center management team, the vendors and the MidTown economic development group have been great to work with. We’re excited about the move and our expansion, and we hope that our growth is just one small part of the continued revitalization of MidTown, Cleveland and Cuyahoga County.”
