Title: Assembly Assistant Manager
Reports To: Manager, Assembly Operations

As an Assembly Assistant Manager, your essential job functions will include the following:
- Plan, organize, perform and supervise the receiving, storage, assembly, inspection and distribution of all required parts and assemblies.
- Day-to-day supervision and scheduling of Assembly Associates, with emphasis on implementation of assembly goals and action plans.
- Answer questions, evaluate operations, and solve problems with members of the assembly team.
- Assist Manager, Assembly Operations in meeting or exceeding assembly goals and performance standards.
- Lead in the training, motivation and establishment of positive morale of Assembly Associates.
- Ensure adherence with warehouse operating rules and standards.
- Follow all SOP documents and contribute to their continuous improvement while training and monitoring Assembly Associates adherence to same.
- Tracking/measuring and reporting assembly goals and action plans, to include inspection, quality, and customer-specific process requirements.
- Follow all quality and inspection criteria and contribute to new, improved quality and inspection standards.
- Partner with the Assembly Quality Engineer on evaluating issues, determining root cause, and implementing corrective actions.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide direction for Assembly Associates.
- Maintain a personnel structure and staffing level to meet goals and deadlines in an effective and efficient manner.
- Train and motivate Assembly Associates.
- Set and track minimum performance levels for all Assembly Associates and conduct performance appraisals at required intervals.
- Participate in Distribution Center designated activities and tasks as required by the DC Manager when there are no Assembly requirements to be completed.
Labor Management
- Provide direct daily supervision to all Assembly Associates to ensure safe, clean, and efficient operations.
- Determine associate needs for training, hiring, developing, motivating and terminating.
- Meet staffing levels and productivity standards as budgeted.
Driving Requirements
- Supervise or perform safe, effective delivery of product shipments in accordance with Dealer Tire policies and customer requirements.
- Operate company vehicles in a safe manner and report problems or defects.
- Comply with all DOT regulations.
- Keep accurate records of deliveries, including maintenance of appropriate signatures.
Shipping/Receiving Requirements
- Supervise or perform the accurate storage, preparation, shipment, and receipt product to meet company standards of safety, security, and productivity.
- Inspect all shipments leaving the building, and initial paperwork.
- Proactively communicate and resolve inventory discrepancies to avoid customer order problems.
- Supervise and perform physical inventories as needed.
- Help to establish and monitor programs to maintain effective security over inventory.
Inbound and Outbound Freight
- Supervise or perform effective product counts and order shipments. Resolve shortages, damage, or incorrect shipments
Documentation
- Ensure accuracy of all receiving and shipping documents. Gather and maintain all data and records relative to shipping and receiving activities.
- Resolve any discrepancies and supervise accurate record keeping of all required documentation.
- Efficiently create and complete Work Orders in an automated system and insure entries are completed in a timely manner.
Customer Service
- Ensure good customer relations by consistently delivering orders on time and acting in a courteous and professional manner.
- Establish procedures to ensure customer service levels for requests, concerns, and complaints.
Equipment
- Operate material-handling equipment safely and efficiently as required.
- Use automated computer systems for picking, receiving, and storing functions as required.
- Insure that all equipment used to build and tear down assemblies is maintained in proper working order, and that preventive maintenance and repairs are completed quickly and correctly.
Safety/Sanitation/Security
- Supervise and maintain a clean, safe and secure assembly area.
- Assist in maintaining distribution center security.
- Comply with OSHA, MSDS, and Dealer Tire standards.
Other Duties as Assigned
Position Qualifications
- Meet the requirements of Dealer Tire’s Motor Vehicle Record Policy and Company Vehicle Fleet Policy.
- High school diploma required. College degree preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years supervising an assembling, kitting or manufacturing operation.
- Minimum of (5) years mounting and balancing experience preferred.
- Must know how to implement 5S, Lean, 6 sigma or Kaizen projects.
- Effectively communicate and work with other warehouse associates, DC Manager, and corporate associates and management.
- Aid in location security efforts (opening/closing procedures) when necessary.
- Maintain delivery vehicles and accessories and identify cleaning/maintenance needs.
- Understand business goals and values of the location and participate in building meetings.
- Supervise completion of required general housekeeping duties.
- Must be able to speak/read English well enough to converse with the public, understand road signs, respond to official questions, make legible entries on records and reports.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- After hire, be able to pass a driver’s road skills test and DOT physical.

Physical Job Requirements
- Lifting at least 70 pounds.
- Continuous lifting, bending, crouching, and twisting.
- Travel < 10%.
