As a Senior Project Engineer, your essential job functions will include the following:

  • Lead and manage engineering, process improvement, layout improvement, and systems-related projects.
  • Manage all aspects of projects assigned to you including project plans, budgets, communication plans, cost/benefit analysis, identification of stakeholders, issues, risks, critical success factors, implementation, measuring and monitoring of results.
  • Apply LEAN concepts and sound change management practices to drive continuous improvement projects
  • Analyze, recommend, and implement solutions to improve DC facilities & operations through qualitative and quantitative analysis of layout, productivity, processes, equipment & systems.
  • Assess layout optimization & efficient space utilization within the existing Distribution Centers and analyze and recommend solutions to improve Distribution Center operations and maximize capacity. 
  • Gain knowledge of WMS so as to understand data flow, reporting capabilities, and ensure all proper considerations are made during projects.
  • Use AutoCAD software to develop current and future Distribution Center layouts and operations that optimize safety, efficiency, and space utilization.
  • Perform research, benchmarking activities and support the use of “best practices”; to include implementation and compliance by all DCs.
  • Audit DC’s for operational efficiency, systems utilization, and adherence to work standards.
  • Support the specific operational and business objectives, and requirements of the Dealer Tire distribution network.
  • Work with safety team to ensure all safety regulations; ensure staff complies with all safety regulations throughout the DC network.
  • Support the development and analysis of standard operating procedures and work standards in conjunction with all DC and logistics processes. 
  • Assist with training of other engineers as well as support of their projects.

Other Duties as Assigned

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, or equivalent degree is required.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in Industrial Engineering in warehousing, logistics, supply chain, transportation, or other comparable experience.
  • Experience managing projects and leading project teams.
  • Experience with Six Sigma, LEAN, and ISO is required.
  • Experience with WMS (JDE, Red Prairie, Manhatten or comparable is preferred.
  • Proficiency with Standards Development systems including PMTS, MOST, or MTM is preferred.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products and AutoCAD.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and facilitation skills required
  • Knowledgeable in process mapping and value stream mapping preferred.

Physical Job Requirements

  • Continuous viewing from and inputting data to a computer screen.
  • Sitting for long periods of time.
  • Travel (25 - 50%).
