As an Assembly Warehouse Lead, your essential job functions will include the following:

Assembly

  • Help Assistant Assembly Manager to plan, organize and monitor the receiving, storage and production of all assembly components
  • Assist Assistant Assembly Manager with training, motivating and promoting positive morale of assembly associates.
  • Ensure associate rotation on the assembly occurs daily.
  • Tour the assembly area regularly to ensure SOP’s are being followed and quality controls are in place.   Evaluate operations and solve problems with the members of your team.
  • Day-to-day coordination of assembly line.  Working on the assembly line; performing as part of an assembly team.
  • Responsible for performing and ensuring the execution of tire and wheel package assembling each day; achieving the goals defined by the company.
  • Hands on performance and knowledge of each piece of equipment used in the operation. Care and regular maintenance of equipment. Troubleshooting, fixing and/or ensuring the machinery is in safe working order.
  • Ensure adherence with warehouse operating rules and standards.
  • Direct assembly associates to maintain location cleanliness and staging for tomorrow’s work load.
  • Follow all SOP documents, and contribute to their continuous improvement while training associates in the following areas:
  • All assembly processes
  • Equipment training
  • Equipment maintenance
  • Quality controls
  • All inspection criteria and contribute to new, improved inspection standards
  • Participate in and contribute to process improvements and best practices
  • Inspection of all shipments leaving the building and ensuring paperwork is available
  • Assist in managing consumable inventory
  • Aid the Assistant Assembly Manager with ensuring accurate cycle counting and reporting of variances
  • Document quality defects found on the line and report to the Assistant Assembly Manager and the Manager of Tire and Wheel Assembly

Shipping/Receiving

  • Accurately store, ship, and receive product to meet company standards of safety, security, and productivity.
  • Label and sort orders to ease selection and picking process.
  • Bring inventory discrepancies to the attention of the manager to avoid customer order problems.
  • Accurately select orders from warehouse in order to prepare deliveries in a timely manner.
  • Complete all required paperwork timely and accurately and give to appropriate personnel.
  • Move product to storage areas with proper equipment and efficiently stack and store merchandise.
  • Pick orders for shipment and assemble various types of merchandise to be shipped and ensure correct number and type of product is loaded and shipped.
  • Participate in physical inventories as needed.
  • Efficiently move product from staging and storage areas into warehouse.

Inbound & Outbound Freight

  • Prior to product storage, count all product, compare to manifest, and check all shipments; report shortages, damages, and mis-shipments to management.
  • Check contents of orders as filled and assembled.  Compare quantity, quality, labeling, and address with customer’s order to insure outgoing shipments are complete and correct.

Documentation

  • Ensure accuracy of all receiving and shipping documents.  Gather and maintain all data and records relative to shipping and receiving activities.
  • Assure receiving counts match packing lists and purchase orders and that shipping counts match picking documents; assist in resolving discrepancies.
  • Collect all documentation for inbound freight and route to proper record-keeping unit.
  • Follow all JDE business process requirements.

Customer Service

  • Ensure good customer relations by consistently delivering orders on time and acting in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Help establish procedures to ensure customer service levels for requests, concerns, and complaints.
  • Manage customer pickups at warehouse.

Equipment

  • Operate Tire and Wheel assembly equipment including mounting and balancing equipment safely and efficiently as required.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently as required.
  • Use JDE / Transcollector and any other warehouse management system equipment for picking, receiving, storing and any other warehouse functions as required.

Safety/Sanitation/Security

  • Maintain a clean, safe & secure work area.
  • Assist in maintaining warehouse security.
  • Comply with OSHA, MSDS and Dealer Tire standards.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate and work with other warehouse associates, Warehouse Manager, and Corporate Associates and management.
  • Aid in location security efforts (opening/closing procedures) when necessary.
  • Maintain delivery vehicles and accessories and identify cleaning/maintenance needs.
  • Understand business goals and company values and participate in warehouse meetings.
  • General housekeeping duties as assigned.

Driving Requirements (as assigned)

  • Transport product to and from remote locations via company vehicle.
  • Meet delivery schedules and stops as designated.
  • Load and unload product efficiently.
  • Keep accurate records of deliveries, including appropriate signatures.
  • Pick up scrap tires from Dealer Tire customers with proper paperwork.
  • Bring back tires from Dealer Tire customers with proper paperwork.
  • Properly secure loads and assure loads are within requirements.
  • Operate company vehicles in a safe manner and report problems or defects.
  • Comply with all DOT regulations.
  • Follow all JDE business process requirements
  • Must be able to speak/read English well enough to converse with the public, understand road signs, respond to official questions, make legible entries on records and reports.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • After hire, be able to pass a driver’s road skills test and DOT physical.

Position Requirements

  • Meet the requirements of Dealer Tire’s Motor Vehicle Record Policy and Company Vehicle Fleet Policy.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.
  • High school diploma required, college degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years assembling or kitting experience in manufacturing operation with heavy equipment and product lifting OR a minimum of three (3) years tire and automotive experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years tire mounting and balancing experience preferred.

Physical Job Requirements

  • Lifting at least 70 pounds
  • Continuous lifting, bending, crouching, and twisting
