As a Service Lane Coach, your essential job functions will include the following:

Operational Management

  • Work with Regional Operations Management and Business Development Manager to effectively implement an effective dealership contact strategy.
  • Collaborate with Account Management on diagnosis, analysis, and action plans to improve dealership performance and sales of service lane products.
  • Work with dealership management to gain support, change behavior and drive results.
  • Quickly build relationships at all levels of the dealership to implement changes.
  • Resolve customer service issues related to all service lane products.
  • Develop and maintain consistent contact schedule with assigned dealers.
  • Manage all activity tracking and account information in Salesforce.
  • Develop and execute follow-up process to support dealership action plans and sustain behavior change. 
  • Communicate analyses and strategic plans based on diagnosis and findings to all affected parties (both internal and external).
  • Participate in OEM regional meetings as needed.
  • Submit timely update reports, itineraries, and expense reports to management as required.

Operational Execution

  • Complete all activities required to effectively analyze and diagnose dealership gaps and drivers.
  • Understand and assess dealership associates knowledge and skills related to in dealership training, program support, product knowledge, and service lane sales.
  • Create and execute customized coaching solutions to improve dealership personnel performance across all areas.
  • Coach and assist dealership staff on tools and resources to effectively sell necessary products and services.
  • Perform complete inventory analysis and recommendation including order frequency, fill rate, space maximization, and phase in/phase out.
  • Work with dealership to establish retail pricing strategies to meet business objectives.
  • Understand Dealer compensation plans and effect on offering and selling service lane products.
  • Assist personnel with tools and capabilities to present service lane products to customers and sell conclusively on the drive - utilizing and explaining program value added items.
  • Assess competitive market and conduct mystery shops to provide an understanding of the competitive landscape – leverage gaps to improve performance. 
  • Demonstrate the value of a successful inspection process (including Op Codes, RO) and assist dealers in achieving success.
  • Ensure the dealer has an effective inspection-based selling process that is focused on all service lane products.
  • Perform the role of service advisor in support of increasing service lane sales - partner with advisors to help develop their sales skills. 
  • Maintain high level of expertise with all service lane products.
  • Deliver approved presentations; coaching, or instruction to dealer staff, as appropriate.
  • Maintain familiarity with current learning and performance improvement industry standards, approaches, and innovations.

Other Duties as Assigned

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business, Sales, Marketing, Management or related field, or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in dealership or automotive service operations preferred.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Proficiency at intermediate level with all Microsoft Office products required.
  • Meet the requirements of Dealer Tire’s Motor Vehicle Record Policy and Company Vehicle Fleet Policy.

Physical Job Requirements

  • Continuous viewing from and inputting data to a computer screen
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Lifting at least 35 pounds
  • Travel required – approximately 80%
