As a Product Owner (IT), your essential job functions will include the following:
Broad Function and Objective
- The Product Owner (IT) is responsible for maximizing the value of the products delivered by the scrum team. The product owner articulates clear goals for a product, manages value delivery and prioritization, and provides a single point of contact to represent the needs of users, stakeholders, and the scrum team in articulating what needs to be done to achieve the product goals.
Maximizing Value of the Product
- Researching customer needs
- Contributing strategies, performance objectives and measurements
- Analyzing and communicating delivered performance against objectives
Managing Value Delivery
- Contributing to product roadmap
- Collaborating with stakeholders to write user stories and acceptance criteria
- Creating and clearly communicating product backlog items
- Setting, prioritizing, and accepting work generated by the team to maximize the value delivered to the users
- Working with the Scrum team to define when work is ready to begin
Communicating Product Vision
- Representing users and stakeholders and communicating their values and perspectives
- Acting primary contact for stakeholders, Scrum teams, and senior leadership
- Advocating for solutions to strategic needs
- Ensuring product deliverable meet objectives as outlined by users and stakeholders
Managing the Product Backlog
- Creating, defining, and communicating a list of features
- Ordering Product Backlog items and resolving conflicting priorities
- Ensuring that pending work items are ready for execution
- Ensuring that developed work items are ready for publication
- Ensuring that the Product Backlog is transparent, visible and understood
Ensuring the Enduring Value of Products
- Owning and publishing performance metrics for products
- Establishing support processes
- Acting primary contact for known issues and potential enhancements
Other Duties as Assigned
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant years of work experience required; MBA preferred
- 3 to 5 years of experience working with development teams required
- 3 to 5 years of experience managing stakeholder, client, or vendor relationships required
- 3+ years of Product Owner experience preferred
- Automotive industry experience preferred
- Great translator; able to speak the language of technology and of business teams required
- Excellent presentation skills comfortable presenting to senior leadership required
- Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to see and explain the big picture
Physical Demands
- Continuous viewing from and inputting data to a computer screen
- Sitting for long periods of time
- Travel as necessary (<10%)
