As an Integration Specialist, your essential job functions will include the following:

  • Design, develop, manage and maintain translation maps, application programs, batch scripts and integration points.
  • Perform system configuration, mapping, testing and management for EDI/Integration-based transactions and processes.
  • Interact with network engineering, application development and database administration functions to ensure availability, reliability and scalability of EDI systems to meet business demands. 
  • Research, recommend, implement, maintain and manage options for the enhancement and sustainability of core Integration systems. 
  • Collaborate with users for the coordination, implementation and communication of the organization’s Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Integration systems, including Inbound/ Outbound Document receiving, delivery and tracking, Process Audits, Document Mapping, Service Providers, and Integration Points. 
  • Responsible for ensuring that EDI-related production and procedures are maintained and properly executed, including development, change requests, and enterprise integration projects. 
  • Provide support activities to Trading Partners, business users, service providers and IT staff. Identify potential issues; respond to error messages and lead troubleshooting/resolution activities. Lead analysis of issues then recommend and perform modifications to EDI/Integration systems to improve efficiencies, reliability and performance.
  • Responsible for monitoring all EDI/Integration files to assure successful and timely receiving and sending of data. Lead in design/code reviews to assure EDI/Integration team procedures and standards are following (areas include change management, documentation, best practices). 
  • Monitor the health of EDI/Integrations systems and take the necessary corrective actions and report incidents to management.
  • Recommend and lead with establishing and implementing policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure EDI/Integration system security.
  • Develop and maintain EDI documentation, training materials and systems documentation.  

Project Management

  • Work closely with functional groups to assure project tasks are completed accurately, timely and with quality.
  • Document project tasks for scope boundaries, high-level requirements, and other aspects as needed. 
  • Work with functional staff to develop training materials for EDI/Integrations related workflow processes and Information Technology systems.

Business Process Analysis

  • Analyze business functional workflow processes across EDI/Integration transactions executed by the company. 
  • Interact with business users to identify desired workflow process modifications and enhancements related to EDI/Integrations across functional areas. 
  • Collaborate and document and functional business area workflow processes and associated data, including both “as-is” current processes and “to-be” improved processes.
  • Develop business analysis standards and guidelines related to EDI/Integrations activities. 

Business Requirements

  • Document high-level and detailed business requirements related to EDI workflows, business rules and data needs.
  • Communicate business requirements to the Information Technology staff. 
  • Collaborate on Information Technology projects with various functional areas and staff to clarify business requirements, answer questions and resolve problems throughout projects and on-going support. 
  • Collaborate with team members on the development and on-going use of audits and controls to monitor the daily transmission and collection of EDI/Integration files.
  • Work with trading partner enrollment and on-going relationships. 
  • Monitor EDI/Integration relationships with customers, vendors and 3rd parties on a daily basis.

Management/Change Management

  • Assist users of EDI/Integration documents and processes in the review of business requirements. 
  • Coordinate work with various functional staff to develop user acceptance test objectives, test plans and test scripts in order to verify and ensure that business requirements are achieved. 
  • Perform system tests and user acceptance tests of Information Technology system changes as agreed with various functional staff in test plans.   
  • Maintain technical analysis documents, technical designs, test scripts and test results to verify EDI/Integration requirements are understood and addressed completely, correctly and consistently. 
  • Execute unit and integrated system test reviews as appropriate with Information Technology staff. 
  • Apply established mechanisms for tracking business requirements throughout the life of Information Technology projects.  Use mechanisms to verify all requirements have been addressed completely, correctly and consistently.
  • Work with various functional and IT staff to apply established change management procedures for Information Technology projects to control scope.
  • Facilitate documentation and approval of requirements changes of either a business or technical nature, during Information Technology projects, using change management procedures.

Other Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate time and status reporting.
  • Adherence to security policies.

Position Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ experience using integration tools (Axway B2Bi, Gentran Integration Suite, or equivalent)
  • Bachelor’s degree required and/or equivalent business experience.
  • Knowledge of various file types and usage (X12, EDIFACT, XML, CSV. Flat Files).
  • Experience with programming languages and techniques (Java, Python, Scripting).
  • EDI/Integration translations and implementation background.
  • EDI document background:  810, 850, 856.
  • Various Communication Methods (FTP, SFTP, AS2, API, web services, etc.).
  • Demonstration of developing improved processes.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Facilitation and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage in a fast-paced environment to meet business needs/deadlines and adhere to project scheduled with minimal supervision.
