  • Perform day-to-day database and data system administration activities to ensure integrity, security, performance, and reliability of production and development environments.
  • Make recommendations to improve database, data system, and application design standards that will increase performance, reliability, and ease of administration.
  • Design, implement, and administer database and data system access and security in adherence with security policies and best practices. Maintain current releases of operating systems, applications, and software patch levels as required.
  • Work with Infrastructure Engineering and Enterprise Production Support teams to improve the observability of our data systems and related metrics and to monitor and respond to any performance or reliability issues that may arise.
  • Work closely with the Data and Software Engineering teams, helping them design and build applications, databases, and data pipelines that meet the performance needs of the business.
  • Work with Enterprise Production Support and the Data and Software Engineering teams to roll out database and data system changes to production environments, adhering to standard change control processes and procedures.
  • Lead the automation of routine tasks and help the engineering teams succeed by providing self-service tools for their use.
  • Plan the growth and manage the capacity of our databases and data systems.
