As a SQL Engineer your essential job functions will include the following:

  • Understand more than one platform / language, learn new technologies and have the ability to integrate technologies as well as use more advanced tools for your technology.
  • Analyze business processes.
  • Be a mentor and teach others.
  • Monitor promoted code.
  • Be more efficient in finding issues and initial issue management.
  • Understand there is more than one way to complete a task and recognizing and choosing what is best within your own technology as well as analyzing pro's and con's and realizing ramifications.
  • Think outside of your own technology, understand the ramifications of your work and how the choices you make affect other teams.
  • Work deeply within one technology.
  • Understand how long activities should take.  Be able to set deadlines on project subtasks.
  • Write effective tests and appropriately integrate testing into the development process.
  • Start to understand business processes affected by development.
  • Learn all of Dealer Tire's security standards.
  • Simple table design.
  • Build SSIS package.
  • Write performant code.
  • Understanding of DT systems and databases.
  • Monitor promoted code.
  • Use SQL Profiler.
  • Understand execution plans.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, preferred.
  • 4+ years of related experience, preferably in design, development and documentation.

Physical Job Requirements:

  • Continuous viewing from and inputting data into a computer screen
  • Sitting for long periods of time
  • Travel as Necessary
