As an Associate Systems Administrator, your essential job functions will include the following:

  • Work with business units to build, test, and implement new system enhancements
  • Deploy, manage and secure cloud servers.    
  • Provision, configure, patch and maintain Linux servers. Understanding of Red Hat Linux and Red Hat Satellite.
  • Plan and implement updates and upgrades on Applications and Application Systems as required.
  • Provide expertise on M365 tasks and support needs: M365 Administration Skills, Exchange 2010/2016 Hybrid mode Skills, Skype for Business 2015 Skills, PowerShell scripting knowledge.
  • Establish and adhere to company metrics for system uptime, problem response and resolution.
  • Interact closely with hardware and software vendors, leveraging the vendor as the next (higher) level of support in addition to license compliance matters
  • Propose and implement system updates (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
  • Responsible for day to day administration in VMWare (i.e. health checks of all Hosts, ensure VM tools are current, create snapshots and restores or systems).
  • Maintain the integrity, security and performance of all servers (Windows and Linux) and systems through proactive monitoring and timely problem resolution.
  • Develop and promote standard operating procedures
  • Manage the process for user data restores and the archiving of terminated user data.
  • Security focus on all tasks and/or assignments, ensuring that all servers are hardened before they are put into production.
  • Manage Active Directory domain and sub domains.
  • Maintain hardware/software inventory and licensing such as operating systems, technology software tools, and includes tracking of serial numbers, system performance and capacities.  Reconcile status reports to ensure deployed software is licensed appropriately and at the current version. Analyze software/hardware updates for security issues which may affect system operations and apply patches and updates as necessary.
  • Perform Disaster Recovery exercises as requested. These exercises are performed off hours.
  • On-call support.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience supporting the Windows environment including Windows 2012 and Windows 2016, Antivirus and Web browsing control solutions.
  • 3 years’ experience supporting Linux servers preferred
  • Experience with backup software in a 500+ server environment.
  • Solid understanding of the application and use of LAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and other network technologies and infrastructure.
  • Microsoft certifications a plus.
  • Ability to work independently on projects assigned with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work with changing deadlines and priorities.

Physical Job Requirements

  • Must be able to install/remove rack mounted, freestanding servers and PC’s including peripheral equipment such as network switches, printers, etc
  • Work in front of a computer screen for long periods of time.
  • Lift and move computer devices up to 50 pounds.
  • Travel as necessary, < 10%.
